ARIA nomination ‘Best Classical Album’
February 5, 2018 Sarah Wade

Tamara-Anna Cislowska’s latest album with ABC Classics has been nominated for ‘Best Classical Album’ in the 2022 ARIA Awards.

Already reaching no.1 in the classical charts, Duet  – Volume 2, features live performances with special guests on Tamara’s weekly show, DUET, each Thursday afternoon at 3pm on ABC Classic. Released on 16 September 2022.

This is Tamara’s 8th ARIA-nominated album, including her 2015 win for ‘Best Classical Album’ with her recording of the complete piano works of the late, renowned Australian composer, Peter Sculthorpe AO OBE.

Each week on ABC Classic’s Duet program, award-winning Australian concert pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska welcomes a star into the studio to share an hour of music and conversation at the keyboard. It’s a chance to discover what makes great performers tick: how and why they do what they do, what inspires the music, and where the artistry is born.

The highlight of each program is a duet performance, live on air: music made in the moment, capturing the intimacy of new connections between stellar artists. Duet – Volume 2 brings together some of the most passionate, profound, joyous and sometimes quirky musical moments from the show and it features 24 guest artists including Ben Folds, Umberto Clerici, Karin Schaupp, Erin Helyard, Garrick Ohlsson and William Barton, in a rich kaleidoscope of musical colours from cello to saxophone, celeste to ophicleide and trumpet to didgeridoo. Tamara performs on piano, harpsichord and ruined piano, and tracks on the album range from works by classical composers like Bach and Rachmaninoff to Australian composition visionaries including Edwards, Doumany, Vine and Kats-Chernin.

The ARIA Awards will be presented on Thursday 24 November, 2022 at Sydney’s iconic live music venue, The Hordern Pavilion on Gadigal land. It will celebrate homegrown music across 27 categories which include contemporary artists and albums through to music teachers, cover art, mixing & producing, and classical, jazz and world music. Duet Volume 2 is nominated under the Fine Arts Award section for ‘Best Classical Album’. The 2022 ARIA Awards will be available to watch live and free across Australia on Channel 9 and 9Now and streamed internationally across YouTube.
