Steel City Strings
Seasons featuring Emily Sun
INSPIRED BY VIVALDI’S FOUR SEASONS
Contrasting the old and the new, this program brings a much-anticipated work to Wollongong Town Hall – Max Richter’s 2012 reinterpretation of Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
For this concert, Steel City Strings will be joined by Guest Soloist, Emily Sun (ABC Young Performer Award-Winner, 2018). In an exciting and immersive atmosphere, audiences will experience the unification of baroque and 21st century styles in Richter’s work – and – in a nod to the original composer himself, Steel City Strings perform Vivaldi’s Concerto Grosso in G minor and the Concerto for two violins in C major. Audiences will also hear music from Vivaldi’s operatic contemporary, Alessandro Scarlatti, when Steel City Strings perform the Sinfonia from his 1711 opera, Tolomeo e Alessandro, ovvero la corona disprezzata.
Steel City Strings’ 2022 Season is proudly supported by Create NSW.
