APRA AMCOS 2022 Art Music Awards Finalist Announcement

Pianist and writer, Simon Tedeschi, has been announced as a finalist in the APRA AMCOS 2022 Art Music Awards, together with violinist Andrew Haveron, under ‘Performance of the Year – Notated Composition’ for their stunning performance of Paul Stanhope’s Machine Codes – sonata for violin and piano.

Broadcast on ABC Classic in November 2021, the piece was commissioned for Musica Viva Australia by Vicki Olsson. Watch and hear the thrilling performance here.

The Art Music Awards celebrate a diverse range of individuals and organisations in the Australian music community, recognising excellence among Australia’s finest composers and performers in contemporary classical, jazz, and experimental music.

Andrew Haveron is Concertmaster of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and these two exceptional artists have collaborated since 2017, both in duo recitals and on the concert stage with the SSO.

The other shortlisted finalists for the Notated Composition Performance of the Year Award are Rachael Dease and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra with Voyces for the performance of Hymn for End Times (Dease); Andrew Blanch and Ensemble Offspring’s performance of Tipping Point (Felicity Wilcox); and a collaboration between Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Australian Art Orchestra, Daniel Wilfred, David Wilfred and conductor Benjamin Northey for Wata (Paul Grabowsky, Daniel Wilfred and David Wilfred).

Award winners for 2022 will be announced on Wednesday 31 August at the Meat Market, North Melbourne.
