ABC Classic turns 50!
On January 24 2026, ABC Classic celebrates 50 cherished years on air, with specially curated programs and a year-long exploration of what classical music means to Australians, and how ABC Classic has played a key role in bringing the incredible music and performances of our creators, musicians, composers, educators and all the satellite workers in classical music, to the world. A chance to hear the moments, voices and memories that have shaped Australian classical music for five decades on the airwaves.
In exciting news, ABC Classic’s new Sunday evening show for everyone who loves or is curious about the piano and piano music – The Art of the Piano with Andrea Lam – begins at 9pm on Sunday 25 January 2026. Tune in as ARIA award-winning pianist, classical expert on The Piano (returning in March 2026!) and Lecturer at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Andrea Lam, presents great piano music performed by the best pianists from Australia and around the world.
And don’t forget to to listen to the brilliant Tamara-Anna Cislowska on her weekly show, Duet– also on ABC Classic – as she snags an hour and sneaks in a duet with Australian and international musical guests.
